Drones have become a valuable tool in todays society for many plans of work. Drones in Agriculture give the Farmer a birds eye view for management practices, whether it be checking on livestock or looking at crop pest and disease management. On June 28th and June 29th Elliott County Extension office was able to team up with Kentucky Agriculture Training Schools to make available a FAA Drone Pilot Certification Prep Class for the people in the Eastern, KY area. The class was from 8am-3:30pm both days and the instructor Mandy Briggs did a great job breaking down each area of the test and explaining complicated flight maps and procedures. There were 14 students in the class and many different plans to apply the certification to their business including agriculture, real estate, engineering, and first responders. It was a great opportunity for the folks of Eastern, KY to allow our area to keep up with the ever progressing technology in todays society.
