The return to “normal” programming in Grayson County 4-H has shown payoff for 4-H Camp participation. The 4-H agent was fortunate to be allowed into all four county elementary schools and the middle school after school began session in August of 2021. With programming in nearly all fourth grade classes, several third and fifth grade classes, the agent was able to present 4-H Camp and the potential of that program to those students. The camping program was a new presentation to essentially 100% of those students as the majority would not have been old enough to attend in 2019, the last camping year prior to Covid-19.

The opportunity for camp to be at 100% capacity with all programming allowed through the week helped seal the deal for parents and youth. Additionally, Grayson County 4-H is able to offer camp at a significantly reduced cost to families thanks to the GC Extension District Board covering 75% of the camp fee that is devoted to programming for the week.

For the 2022 camping season, Grayson County filled 65 beds which is the counties 2^nd highest on record. Following up with the campers with a survey, all campers felt safe at camp, all campers indicated they felt the cabin and county leaders cared about them, and all learned something new at camp. All campers plan to attend camp in 2023, several hoping to have a friend with them. Campers aging up hope to be selected for Teen Leaders next summer.
