Planning Unit: Fulton County CES

Major Program: Horticulture, Consumer and Home

Plan of Work: Educating the community on issues that lead to a better Fulton County.

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The pandemic has brought many new challenges to families in Fulton County and in 2021 we started with the Garden to Go Kits and with there success we continued those into 2022.  One of the more positive outcomes has been a revival of home gardening and importance of family togetherness. The Fulton County Cooperative Extension Service Agents for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Science, 4-H and Youth Development all partnered together to distribute forty beginner gardening kits out into the community. Kits included vegetables plants, seeds, recipes, canning information, gardening publications and nutrition information and more. Marketing the kits included using social media, Extension programs and word of mouth. These posts were viewed over 2400 times and shared 21 times from other community partners.  This also presented an opportunity for people to learn more about Extension programs, the educational opportunities, and the various publications we offer. We had some families pick up bags who had not been involved in Extension before and many first time gardeners.
