In 2020, Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) was assigned to be the regulatory agency for the Produce Safety Rule in Kentucky. As KDA started to implement inspections, one requirement for growers that fall under the produce safety rule is that they complete the Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) Grower Training course. This course is open to Kentucky growers that are required to have it as well as those who don’t as it has best practices for any size operation. From July 1st, 2021 to June 30th, 2022 there have been 142 people trained with the PSA Grower Training course conducted through UK. This included 10 trainings, 6 remote and 4 in person. These participants included, but were not limited to historically under privileged groups and Amish and Mennonite communities.
