The Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference hosted 490 senior 4-H youth from across the Commonwealth on Uk's campus in June. Five Todd County youth traveled to the four day conference to experience leadership, communications, expressive arts and fun! Two youth tried out for the Kentucky 4-H Leadership Board Performing Arts Troupe. One youth performed with the Kentucky 4-H Performing Arts Troupe on stage. One youth received the Gold Achievement Honor as well as a $500 college scholarship from the Kentucky 4-H Foundation. One of these youth was brand new to Todd County 4-H and attended the conference by a special donor. This youth said that 4-H changed her life and gave her hope.
The youth reported how they benefited from Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference: A focus group of the five attendees revealed:
100% got to meet people from across the state that love 4-H as much as I do.
98% served others through a community service activity and felt like they made a difference.
100% benefitted from Teen Conference in a lot of ways, by getting up on stage, completing service projects to help others, interacted with peers, learned to better manage my time, and made new friends.
They learned leadership and communications skills and were exposed to the University of Kentucky college campus. This experience was a cumulative experience for senior 4-H member creating memories to last a lifetime.
