“Dealing With A Loss”
All people will be faced with a loss in life, whether it be the loss of routine, jobs, school, developmental milestones, health, independence, and even the loss of friends, family and pets. Recognizing that all persons will face grief of some kind, or are facing a loss at the present time, an effort to arm participants in Pulaski County with skills to deal with loss was offered to more than 225 clients through the class on Living with Loss: Playing the Hand You are Dealt.”
Participants had the opportunity to share their loss with others while viewing the power point presentation on Dealing with Your Own Loss. One grandmother had experienced the loss of a grandchild, another had moved to Pulaski County and was experiencing the loss of moving away from her family and friends. Another had lost her job and had to take on a lower paying job within the same company which caused a financial grief.
Some of the class members said it was the best class they had attended in dealing was grief. One client was happy to learn that she was normal in dealing with the death of her mate and to learn that all people grieve differently. Several were happy with the participants sharing how they dealt with a loss facing their family. Everyone will face loses in their life and learning how to deal with the experience was helpful to all.
