Community leadership is essential to for community sustainability, development, and to help strengthen families. Floyd County Family and Consumer Sciences and Floyd County Extension Homemakers has developed strong leadership through its programming.

Floyd County Extension Homemakers currently has a membership of 52 members. There has been a decline in membership due to COVID-19, but leadership has grown significantly within the members. One member started out as a club member back in the 2010s and has grown into a strong leader in the Floyd County Community. She started out as a quiet and more reserved individual, but because of Floyd County Extension Homemakers she has grown into a strong leader by holding positions as a club leader, then Homemaker County Treasurer, and is now a member of the Floyd County District Board. She is also chair of the County Cultural Arts and hosts bi-monthly craft classes with Homemakers leading the program.
