Major Program: Tornado Response and Recovery
Plan of Work: Support Community and Economic Development
Outcome: Initial Outcome
The Anderson County farming community and various other businesses around the county came together to donate a tremendous amount of time, effort, and resources to the Western Kentucky tornado recovery. The County Extension Agent has made two trips to Caldwell and Muhlenberg Counties to deliver donated supplies and assist in helping community members impacted by the tornado. Anderson County Farm Service made a matching donation to help deliver cattle mineral and fencing supplies to farmers in Caldwell County. After delivering the resources, the agent helped several farmers rebuild fences and organize materials to help lessen the impact on those directly affected by the tornado. In Muhlenberg County, the Anderson County Agent partnered with numerous other agents from the Central Kentucky Region to clean up debris from several farmers. For 10 hours, agents picked debris from fields and cleared trees from three farms, mainly utilizing their own resources like trucks, chainsaws, utvs, and various other equipment. The communities that were visited responded to the efforts with great appreciation, and some have continued to stay in contact with those that helped in the recovery efforts.
