In January of 2022 Ballard County hired a new director over the Senior Citizens Center. FCS agent was approached to come into the center and provide health and wellness classes to seniors. As we are coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic having classes that encompass social interaction along with health activity was essential. FCS agent took the homemaker lesson Mindful Chair Yoga to teach. Chair yoga can lessen the impact of chronic illnesses and pain. It also helps in reducing anxiety, promotes increased range of motion, builds strength and balance. The first class was in February with ten participants. All saying that they would like to have weekly sessions.
Since that time FCS agent has gone back weekly to provide low impact exercises and health lessons. The initial group of ten ladies has increased to fifteen participants including three men. FCS agent is continually working with the director to provide new classes and opportunities for the centers participants.
