Natural Disaster Strikes Warren County

On December 10, 2021, tragedy struck Warren County Kentucky. Three tornados touched down, displaced over 700 families, and took the lives of seventeen people. Roughly, 14,000 people were without power in the city of Bowling Green, KY for weeks.

In an effort to help rebuild our community, the Warren County Extension Office worked in various ways. The Snap Education Assistant delivered food and clothing to over 121 families this included hotels, temporary housing, and shelters. The Snap Education Assistant also handed out over 100 booklets on keeping food safe during natural disasters. The Warren County Snap Education Assistant also used social media to keep roughly 2000 members of the community aware of donation sites and helpful resources.
