Green County Cooperative Extension partners with Archery in the School
Teaching youth ethical and safe handling of archery equipment is critical to protecting our youth and empowering them as adults to be positive influencers of future generations. Green County Cooperative Extension partners with Archery in Schools to offer safety and practice sessions where youth can gain confidence and practice in making and demonstrating their skills.
For the past eight years, over fifty youth annually participate in the afterschool program conducted at the Green County Extension Office led by certified archery in school coaches and Green County 4-H shooting sports coaches. Youth attend safety and practice sessions twice weekly between October and April each year. Youth from grades six through twelve are involved. Each youth positively demonstrates a mastery of approved safety procedures in order to continue in the program. All youth passed a safety test demonstrating their mastery of safety skills with their project activities.
