National 4 H Congress is the pinnacle experience in 4 H Civic Engagement, providing the opportunity for young people to connect, learn, engage, lead, and impact their communities, state, and nation. National 4-H Congress provided two Ohio County youth with a high quality, relevant educational and cross-cultural experiences not otherwise obtainable within Kentucky, while focusing on current themes of high interest to our youth.   National 4-H Congress provided a comfortable diverse learning environment for youth coming from diverse backgrounds and program experiences, and involved the youth as full partners in planning, implementing, and leading the program.

Ohio County 4-H members Carlie Hansen and Meegan Lane attended the 2021 National 4-H Congress after receiving the 2021 Kentucky 4-H Gold Achievement Award.  National 4-H Congress provided life-changing experience for these two Ohio County youth to meet other 4-H members from across America, as they engaged in educational workshops focusing on diversity, cultural experiences, leadership, team development, and of course having fun!  These two youth are empowered to create positive social change in their communities and will practice and apply their skills in real-world settings.  National 4-H Congress provided a venue for these two 4-H’ers to apply their abilities in everyday experiences, continue to develop leadership skills using their voices, work, ideas, and behavior to make a difference in their community, state, country, and world. Carlie and Meegan were recognized for their contributions they have made in their communities now and in the future and enhanced visibility for the Kentucky 4-H youth development program and Extension in the nation. Carlie serves on the Kentucky 4-H Healthy Living Leadership Board and both teens serve as advisors to the 4-H Chef Club, Teen Club and Horticulture Club.
