According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the 3.2 million youth ages 16 to 24 who graduated from high school between January and October 2019, 2.1 million (66.2 percent) were enrolled in college in October.  Choosing a college is an exciting but stressful process for many teens.  Finding the right fit for college encompasses many factors, including academics, extracurriculars and campus culture, to name a few. This past year, senior 4-H’er Maegan Potter decided that University of Kentucky is where she has decided to pursue her dreams of higher education. This is not a decision that comes easy for most youth and was a tough decision for Maegan. However, thanks to the program 4-H Teen Conference, this helped Maegan make this a goal when she first attended the conference 4 years ago. According to Potter, “UK has been my dream college ever since I first went to UK for Conference. I fell in love with the campus and the students”.  Had Maegan not been given the opportunities that 4-H Teen Conference offered; she may have missed out on this opportunity. Because of this, Maegan has been provided with positive life skills and the tools to make this dream a reality. Maegan has put in a lot of hard work and dedication to make this dream come true. Maegan plans on following her passion for Interior Design in some capacity and step out of her comfort zone and achieve great things!
