Major Program: Tornado Response and Recovery

Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work

Outcome: Initial Outcome

Bullitt County 4-H and FCS agents joined Exension offices across the state to collect donations for the Western Kentucky Tornando Victims. We wanted to help and to assist those impacted by the tornadoes and the severe weather system overnight on December 10, 2021. Our hope was that our care packages and donations have brought a little bit of light to a long, tough journey. We contacted our members and volunteers and let them know specific items we wanted to collect. After we received donations, agents organized and stored all the donations. Our plan was to deliver to two locations in Hopkins County. We received many items below.

Donation Items:
100 cases Water

500 boxes Snacks

50 Blankets

50 Jackets

500 Toiletries

100 Winter Gear

50 Paper Products

200 youth bags

75 bookbags for youth filled with Christmas gifts

This is a great way to give back and encourage others on similar journeys. 4-H has a rich history of completing projects to benefit the community. The 4-H pledge includes, “I pledge my hands to larger service for my club, my community, my country and my world.” 4-Her’s are not only meeting the needs of the community, 4-H’ers are learning valuable skills about designing a project and following it through to completion.
