Outcome: Initial Outcome
With Covid hampering the number of clientele for the Farmers Market, the Voucher and Double Dollars program managed to put some extra money in the farmers pockets and to allow for our marginal new parents/senior population to eat healthier. The Double Dollars program was a success for the Pikeville Farmers Market. Grants were written with the CFA (Community Farm Alliance) to get the double dollars match for the WIC and Senior Vouchers sponsored by the KDA. It was a great success in that the market was able to get match money not only for vouchers issued by our local Extension Office (SR) and our local Health Dept. (WIC). Grants were written for ___ and match was obtained from the Farmers Market Fund Raisers, a local business, and donations by local patrons of the market. We were able to get enough sponsors of match money to double any voucher that came into the market. They doubled multiple vouchers from the surrounding markets, thereby increasing the farmers profits.
