Plan of Work: 7. Community and 4-H Leadership Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The pandemic that has enveloped our world and changed our personal lives continues to wreak havoc on mental well being.  This is especially true for health care providers, educators and youth.  While wreath making classes pre Covid times were always enjoyable and provided natural resource education, niche income and family enjoyment – an unexpected benefit occurred this year.

Practicing distancing and sanitation, sixty five people from ages 15 to 75 enrolled in classes – including 3 different medical and dental office staff groups.  Participant interviews – especially with medical personnel- indicated the class enabled a much needed mental health break and helped with office relations. Each expressed their appreciation for the opportunity and as a result, a series of hands on gardening and natural resource demonstrations as mental health aids is being developed for these groups.
