Major Program: Tornado Response and Recovery

Plan of Work: Community, Economic, and Leadership Development

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The severe damage caused by the December 2021 tornado outbreaks affected many in our state. Devastating winds destroyed homes, schools, business and scattered debris throughout the affected area and beyond. A group of ANR agents and volunteers from the central region traveled to Muhlenberg County, under the direction of ANR Agent Darrell Simpson and coordinated by Beau Neal Fayette County ANR Agent, to aid in the beginning stages of clean up. Our efforts began at a farm used for hay production and was littered with debris. Walking the field any unwanted items were removed to try to stop further suppression to forage growth and prevent equipment from being damaged when harvesting in the spring. The next location was a grain operation in which the same process was conducted. The task of removing debris was just a small start to the recovery and repair process for these farms and we were grateful to be helpful in any way.

The agents involved included Beau Neal - Fayette County ANR, Jessica Barnes - Harrison County ANR, Lindsay Arthur - Bourbon County ANR, Jason Vaughn - Powell County ANR, Steve Musen - Jessamine County ANR, Keenan Bishop - Franklin County ANR.
