November, time for Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season. The holiday season may also be the time of the year that our healthy habits get off track and our waistbands get a little bit tighter. Doctors at Harvard Medical School report that people tend to abandon healthy habits during the winter months.

In an effort to help people stay on track, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Assistant in Anderson County held a November Healthy Living Challenge. Using a Social Media platform (Anderson County Nutrition Group Facebook page) daily posts were provided with tips on all thing’s health, including nutrition, physical activity and self-care. A poll question was included with each post, allowing participants to test their knowledge.

These Healthy Living Tips were viewed 1410 times throughout the month. Thirty-six people responded to the tips on a regular basis. The information gained from the Healthy Living Challenge Tips could help people to stay on track and to finish the holiday season as healthy as they started.
