Plan of Work: Local Club and Council Leadership and Community Service
Outcome: Long-Term Outcome
Johnson County Extension Homemakers continue to be the top effort of FCS towards leadership development efforts.
This year Homemakers excelled once again on a number of fronts. One was appointed as the state Marketing Chair, three took on the role of renewing the Holiday Happenings event (an event that hosts around 40 vendors, and over 400 attendees); three more have consistently been working toward the development of the PLANET project (an environmental project of which they received a state award for), a small group has renewed an interest in hosting another regional quilt show, others have become more engaged in other facets of the FCS program including the Cultural Heritage Network program, the community mural project, the Foster Care Children's quilt project, the Community Beautification mini grant program, the Master Clothing Volunteer program, and the substance use disorder efforts.
Some would refer to this movement as "deepening and broadening" of membership along with expansion, while simultaneously, the program shifts in membership demographics, all in all creating an effective systemic catalyst for positive community change through leadership.
