Plan of Work: Developing Leadership and Volunteer Skills for Engagement with Community, Country and World
Outcome: Initial Outcome
During the vacancy for a Family Consumer Science Agent in Nelson County, the remaining Cooperative Extension Agents worked to maintain programs and support for existing FCS programs. Danielle Hagler, Nelson County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development, worked closely with the County Homemaker President to develop and deliver an officer training for the 6 homemakers clubs in the county. 13 participants, holding various officers positions participated in the 2 hour training. The training was developed utilizing the Adventure Awaits 2021 KEHA Officer Training and integrating additional leadership training activities to inspire the participants in meeting the goals of increasing community awareness of Homemakers, creating a positive impact through encouragement and to encourage giving of oneself to the community. Members participated in mindfulness breaks, goal setting activities and got to know more about each other and the goals of the state Homemakers association. In a post program evaluation, participants showed increased understanding in the 2021-2022 programming emphases, increased their understanding of reporting and how the results are used. They increased their knowledge of membership campaigns and incentives and important dates for the KEHA program year. 100% of the participants planned to share information they learned from the training with their club and would use what they learned to fulfill a leadership role in the next year.
