Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
In order to help equine producers be efficient and profitable, Central Kentucky County Extension Agents for Agriculture & Natural Resources collaborated with Ag Equine Programs to offer the Equine Farm and Facilities Expo. The assistance of long-time business community sponsors allowed producers to see what the latest offerings are in farm machinery, equine nutrition products, and numerous other necessities for equine operations.
Just like in years past, the expo included discussions and presentations from UK Extension specialists covering a range of topics including (but not limited to) pasture management, weed control, and farm design. This year's expo was hosted by Spendthrift Farm and roughly 150 attendees took part in the educational expo.
The farm operations of producers attending varied in size, from large horse farms to folks who may just own one horse. In speaking with attendees, many producers relied on the information gathered during the expo and stated they would be making some changes and adopting practices based on what had been presented.
