With the continuation of COVID across the state, the Mason County Livestock Improvement Association (LIA) was dedicated to continue to host the area youth livestock show and auction. In 2020, COVID prevented the association from holding the show and auction in the traditional structure, however, the show was held on a cooperating farm without an auction. For 2021, the group was determined to try to operate the show with an auction as tradition with the event. Working with the Mason County Fiscal Court, the LIA formed a partnership to secure a location for the event on county property. Extension and LIA worked together for entries and the show offering and prepare for the show and auction. Five counties were invited to participate in the show with an auction for Mason County youth participants. The event was held over three days with over 70 youth exhibiting beef, sheep, swine and goats. Local business attended the premium auction to donate over $55,000 to 37 youth projects. At the conclusion of the event many businesses shared comments about how well organized and functional the new location was for holding the auction and were impressed with the new event as a whole.
