Major Program: Nutrition and Food Systems General

Outcome: Initial Outcome

In the age of technology, it is important to utilize the resources available to help spread researched, evidence-based information that can have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of individuals and families.  The Clinton County Nutrition Education Program through the University of Kentucky’s Cooperative Extension Program, along with the Clinton County School Districts 21st Century Community Club pulled their resources together to create an innovative, fun & highly educational video about the importance of planning, price comparisons and overall nutrition information to make budget and health conscience choices while at the grocery store.   Thanks to the cooperation of the Save-A-Lot of Albany grocery store management, a collaborative video, titled “How Much Will $50 buy?” was recorded and shared through various social media platforms to help families across the district, as well as several states and provinces, learn more about making positive choices while grocery shopping to help stretch food budgets.   The video was viewed over 4,000 times.   Finding new ways to reach low-income families is definitely what the Nutrition Education Program is all about.
