The COVID pandemic brought changes and challenges as to how the Jefferson County Extension Service delivered programs to the public. Technology has played an even larger role during these times, specifically online platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. The Jefferson County Horticulture Agent and SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education) Assistant took on that challenge and created the Garden to Table Video Series.

Videos on asparagus, broccoli, strawberries, tomatoes and acorn squash were completed. The video series begins in the garden with the Agricultural Agent featuring a fruit or vegetable with tips on growing and harvesting. The produce is then brought into the kitchen where the SNAP- Ed. Assistant discusses the health benefits of the fruit or vegetable and prepares a healthy recipe using the harvested produce.

The Garden to Table video series can be found on the Jefferson County KY Extension YouTube Page and on the Jefferson County KY Nutrition Education Program Facebook Page[DA1] .  The series was also viewed by a men’s recovery center and reached over four hundred people in Jefferson County during the peak of the Covid-19 outbreak.
