Whitley County is home to an array of talented visual artists. They include, but are not limited to, photographers, painters, potters, woodworkers, and sculptors. With the abundance of visual art being created in Whitley County there has been, in the past, an issue of a lack of venues for artists to display their work for others to see and enjoy. When compared to the numerous activities that are organized by the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, public school art teachers have few avenues to showcase student work outside their school buildings.
