Industrial Hemp Field Day

Kentucky’s industrial hemp program has experienced tremendous growth in just a few short years. In 2014 farmers planted 33 acres; in 2015 over 900 acres were planted; in 2016 over 2,300 acres were planted; in 2017 more than 3,200 acres were planted; in 2018 growers planted 6,700 acres. The passage of the Farm Bill in 2018 made it legal to grow industrial hemp in all 50 states. A group of agents from the Mammoth Cave sub-district in Kentucky had been desiring to take a study tour in the Montana area for several years. The NACAA Scholarship Committee awarded our group $5,834 at the 2018 AM/PIC in Chattanooga. Because of their support, our group was able to achieve make the trip on July 22-26, 2019.
