Success Stories

Natural Resources Education Opportunities

Major Program: Agriculture & Natural Resources

Given the increased concerns about pollution and neglect, 4-H is teaching our youth to understand better the environment and how to protect our natural resources. In Mercer County, we have created opportunities to teach environmental stewardship and sustainability of our natural resources. For the last three years, we have collaborated with the local high schools to teach youth forestry and wildlife education. Last fall, 19 youth participated in the State Forestry Field Day at Carter Caves.
