During the Covid19 pandemic the Jackson County Cooperative SNAP-Ed Assistant partnered with the Jackson County 4-H, Save the Children and the Jackson County School system to deliver Health and Nutrition bags to the local schools, which were sent home to children in NTI packets and school lunches. The Jackson County SNAP-Ed assistant partnered with the New Hope Recovery center to teach an eight week program using the Healthy Choices for Everybody curriculum. The SNAP-Ed assistant visited the program twice a month. During this time the focus was on preparing healthy meals on a budget, food safety, proper handwashing and how to incorporate good nutrition back into their lifestyle. Even during a pandemic the Jackson County Cooperative Extension service found a way to serve the community. The SNAP-Ed program assistant partnered with 4-H, ANR and several community groups and local businesses to do a Container Garden Project.
