4-H Teen Leadership Academy

In order to address the need for youth leadership at the county and district level, a collaborative effort by LaRue, Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin and Meade counties was formed to conduct the twelfth year of the 4-H Teen Leadership Academy. The nine month program focused on developing teen participant’s leadership and communication skills. Through an application process, a total of 25 youth were selected for the 2019-2020 class. Kentucky 4-H Volunteer Forum

Volunteers play integral roles in 4-H programs, performing a variety of duties, functions, and tasks and possessing varied and rich knowledge, skills, and backgrounds (Radhakrishna & Ewing, 2011). The success of Extension programming is due, in part, to the dedication of a large cadre of volunteers (Smith, Dasher, & Klingborg, 2005). Although highly valued, volunteer involvement does not guarantee achievement of Extension's goals and fulfillment of learners' needs (Bolton, 1992).
