Food Insecurity is an issue that faces many households in Kentucky. In Daviess County, for example, there are 13,540 people who would be labeled as Food Insecure. According to the 2017 Feeding America report, Food insecure households are not necessarily food insecure all the time. When COVID-19 hit, and all classes came to a halt, and the unemployment rate jumped from 4.8% to 14.9%, the Daviess County Nutrition Education Program Assistant started thinking about ways to reach those SNAP clientele who would normally attend Healthy Choices classes. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Office has remained closed to the public, which meant they could not have any of their usual in-person nutrition and cooking classes.
