2024 Pumpkin Art Contest Sparks Creativity

As a rural community, Lewis County lacks a variety of after-school and weekend programming for young people. In response to this, an annual Pumpkin Art Contest is hosted every year to give youth the opportunity to show off their artistic side by using a pumpkin as a canvas. Lewis County citizens ranked strengthening youth-adult or mentorship relationships and strengthening youth peer-peer relationships as a top 12 issue based on the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Community Needs Assessment.
