Dollars and Sense

Major Program: Family and Consumer Science

     Lewis County Central, Garrison, and Tollesboro Elementary 4th and 5th grade students participated in the 4-H Dollars and Sense program during the month of October.  The program was offered by the Lewis County 4-H program and the Family Resource Centers at Tollesboro and Central Elemetary.  There were approximately 317 students from the three schools that participated in the program and 30 volunteers from the community to help with the program.  Dollars and Sens

Reality Store

The Lewis County Extension Office collaborated with the Youth Services Center to conduct the program Reality Store with 8th grade students at the Lewis County Middle School.   There were 129 participants in the program.   It was important to do the program because youth need to learn skills that will help them when they get out of school and need to make decisions on how to spend their money. “Kentucky 4-H believes that all youth should have opportunities for positive youth

Childhood obesity

The problemAccording to the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky,  25.5% of youth ages 10-17 have obesity, giving Kentucky a ranking of 2 among the 50 states and the District of Columbia."
