Situation:

According to 2019 CEDIK Data, Jackson County is at only 43% Labor Force Participation. Preparing youth and adults for the workforce by enhancing soft skills such as communication skills, is an important component in increasing labor force participation because Jackson Countians will be more prepared to fulfill the needs of their employers and be more marketable in the job market.  While Jackson County is a Workforce Ready County, there is still a huge need for development in this area because communication skills play such a vital role.  

Long-Term Outcomes:

Overall community improvement and individual fulfillment will be enhanced by the achievement of goals attained through the completion of these programs. Youth will demonstrate public speaking skills, food preparation and life skills effectively. Youth will develop their own memorable speaking style at a local, district and state level.

Intermediate Outcomes:
Participants will learn the basics of human personality, interactions, self-expression, skills of speaking, food preparation and life skills and then put then into practice at a local and district level.
Initial Outcomes:
Participants will learn the rules and regulations of various events and classes to perform at a local level. Youth will learn life skills needed to become independent,self-sufficient citizens.
Evaluation:

Initial Outcome: Learn communication and life skills needed to perform at a local level.

Method: 4-H Public Speaking, Demonstrations, 4-H Country Ham Project, 4-H Teen Conference, 4-H Character Education
