Promote positive personal finance behaviors prepares Kentuckians for any future economic shift. The United States has been in an extremely long period of economic expansion; however, expansions are cyclical, meaning growth is eventually followed by recession. Securing financial stability for Kentuckians will help families thrive no matter the economic outlook. Financial stability is achieved when families are able to secure and manage resources needed to supply food, clothing, and shelter. Through increased financial knowledge, families may be able to make wise financial decisions, increase buying power, avoid overextended credit, develop savings habits, and manage risks.
Cultural awareness and pride, along with the creative community, contribute to community development and growth. 82% of Americans believe arts and culture are important to local businesses and the economy and that 87% of Americans believe arts and culture are important to quality of life. "Arts and cultural organizations are valued members of the business community. They employ people locally, purchase goods and services from within the community, art members of their Chambers of Commerce, and promote their regions." (Americans for the Arts, Arts & Economic Prosperity report, 2015)

Greenup County Agriculture Day is an event about recognizing and celebrating the contribution of agriculture in our everyday lives. Greenup Arts has responded to interest expressed by students and adults about learning to play the ukulele. Greenup County 4-H has two teens who participated in the 4-H online ukulele club and two local schools are using the ukulele in their music classes. The ukulele is an affordable instrument, not difficult to play, and is a good beginner instrument for learning to play in an ensemble and/or accompany a singer. The Greenup County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent collaborated with the Greenup County 4-H Youth Development Agent to offer the SuperStar Chef Camp program to 14 students. Two volunteers worked with the students in a hands-on educational setting to teach important life skills. A pre-test/post-test evaluation was conducted to determine learning outcomes.
