Situation:

2019 Community Assessment results indicated the following prioritized issues in Community Vitality: more qualified leaders to prepare community for the future; more youth community leadership opportunities; and more citizens helping solve local issues. Extension is well positioned to develop a community leadership program over the next four years for both youth and adults.  

Long-Term Outcomes:
  • Communities are equipped with competent, effective leaders
  • Community members engage others to initiate projects.
  • Civic engagement is possible and desirable for community members
Intermediate Outcomes:
  • Citizens put skills into practice by becoming more engaged in the community, taking on leadership roles.
  • Graduates in formal leadership roles increase their involvement/action.
  • Graduates of community leadership programs initiate civic engagement
Initial Outcomes:
  • Increase knowledge of effective leadership skills.
  • Develop/enhance the leadership skills of youth and adults.
  • Citizens: Informed about community systems, better connected to communication networks, more confident and skilled in identifying and implementing strategies for systemic change.

Leaders Rise to the Challenge

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat is a community program that we partnered with this year.  Trunk or Treat is a safe place for kids to get a chance to dress up and have fun while getting candy and spending quality time with their family.  There are several community partners that participate in this community event.  Children get the chance to make their way around the circle and see community leaders and businesses give back to the community.  4-H is was more than glad to be apart of this even
