Situation:

 1.)  Locally owned businesses, local entrepreneurs and interested residents benefit from educational information.  

 2.) Engaging and mobilizing communities to participate in discussions and improved readiness.  Building bridges increases strength of Extension in times of crises or disasters. 

3.) There is a need to build the capacity of volunteer leaders as it is critical for the sustainability of a community infrastructure that supports long term commitment to strengthen youth and adults. 

4.) Engaging the arts in CES programs aids community health. 

Long-Term Outcomes:

Community problems are solved through active engaged local leaders. Community and county businesses demonstrate use of information gained from CEDIK-based programming.

Intermediate Outcomes:

 Practice and apply personal leadership skills gained in clubs, schools and community outreach. Community and county businesses gain use of information gained at CEDIK-based programming.

Initial Outcomes:

 Kentuckians increase knowledge and skills in personal, organizational and community leadership.  Community and county businesses seek information through  CEDIK-based programming.

Long-term Outcome:  

Indicator: The number of individuals and families reporting that they have implemented what they have learned from McCracken Cooperative Extension Service. 

Method: Surveys and/or personal interviews, social media posts and recognition

Indicator: Increase in number of active volunteers and participants in McCracken CES programs  

Method: Analysis of sign-in sheets and volunteer applications

Content or Curriculum:  KELD handbook, Champion Food Training, Extension Master Gardener training, Homemaker Leader Training, 4-H Club and Activity Volunteer training, online meetings and virtula trainings

Date: Ongoing, with emphasis in April, for National Quilt Show weeks.

Major Program: Community Leadership Development

    Being the featured speaker at Paducah Rotarians meeting 30 Sep 2020 was a fine opportunity to tell about McCracken County Cooperative Extension and the services/programs/outreach we offer. There were about 40 people in attendance on the Zoom link, due to the Covid -19 Pandemic. Participants were able to view the slideshow presentation approved by the County Manager Robert Tashjian.    By attending on Zoom, Rotarians were able see and hear the McCracken County Horticulture

Weekly Series Online Provides Learning About Horticulture Virtually

Major Program: Master Gardener

The Covid pandemic created a problem for continuing education opportunities for the Extension Master Gardeners. Having a virtual educational program was a good solution. What began as a short term stop-gap for in person programming during the 2020 Pandemic, has become a much-attended weekly horticulture program. Due to the continuing popularity of the Horticulture Webinar Wednesdays program a team of Kentucky Horticulture Agents have continued to present weekly Wednesday Webinars at 12:30 E
