Situation:

Shelby Countians recognize community development is a top priority. According to a study conducted by Maintaining Our Rural Environment (MORE), citizens in

Shelby County have a strong desire to maintain the rural landscape while developing an improved standard of living for all residents. Two current focus areas in Shelby County include healthy environments and cultural awareness.

The Extension Community Assessment in Shelby County identified the need for more citizens to help solve local issue and for increased pride in the community and its assets.  

Long-Term Outcomes:

*Collaboration between Extension and community organizations promotes community and economic development and an improved standard of living for Shelby Countians.

*Clientele share information and/or advocate for agriculture and/or environmental issues to elected officials

Intermediate Outcomes:

*Extension agents, community leaders and citizens utilize skills in communication, leadership, collaboration, marketing, strategic planning and economic development to create a climate for positive community and economic development.

*Clientele share information and/or advocate for agriculture and/or environmental issues locally

Initial Outcomes:

*Develop KOSA in communication, leadership, collaboration, strategic planning, marketing, management and economic development.

*Clientele increase agriculture awareness due to Extension programming

*Clientele trained in agricultural leadership development

Evaluation:

Initial Outcome: KOSA gained in community and economic development

Indicator: Number of individuals who gained KOSA in community and economic development

Method: Observation, end-of-training evaluation
