Use of Technology in Agriculture
MAP:
Ag Technology
Agents Involved:

MAJOR PROGRAM 1:
Data Management & Tech
Situation:
Agriculture is a ready adopter of new technologies. Assist farmers with evaluating the usefulness and value of new technologies.Farmer interest in drones is very high. Applications for using drones are being developed. Use a drone to work with farmers on demonstrating the technology and evaluating potential applications for area farming.
Long-Term Outcomes:
Assessments and decisions made on adoption of new technologies. Dollars saved or increased.
Intermediate Outcomes:
Farmers see on-farm applications and make decisions on new technologies.
Initial Outcomes:
Farmers learn about new technologies.
Enriched strips used in wheat fields to test the Greenseeker technology.
Evaluation:
Initial Outcome: General awareness of drone technology and potential uses, apps that are available.
Indicator: Client discussions.
Method: On-farm use of the drone to fly fields.
Timeline: Summer-2019
Initial Outcome: Better farmer understanding of wheat nitrogen needs.
Indicator: Greenseeker data.
Method: Greenseeker scanning.
Timeline: Late winter.
Intermediate Outcome: Applications of nitrogen as needed.
Indicator: Increased wheat yields.
Method: Scan wheat fields with Greenseeker.
Timeline: Early spring.
