4-H Youth Development Programming
Many leadership scholars and youth development professionals agree that leadership development is an important, but often overlooked facet of youth development and education (MacNeil ,2000).The development of leadership contributes greatly to the positive development of young people and their
communities. Leadership skills, such as goal-setting, problem-solving and sound decision-making, are not just necessary for leaders-these skills are needed for success in today's world (MacNeil,2000). Leadership Development has always been a very important aspect of the 4-H Council, because they have seen the benefit of having time invested in our youth as they prepare to be citizens in our community.
Youth will serve as teen and adult leaders in their communities, community organizations, and as mentors for younger youth.

Youth will use leadership and communications skills needed to be successful in the workplace on a daily basis.

Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association
Leadership in action is the result of leadership training and development. As a result of FCS and KELD leader training volunteers demonstrated their ability by planning, presenting and evaluating a major Extension Homemaker county event. The International committee, successfully developed a program in collaboration with all clubs throughout the county. Focusing on Suriname, they developed an educational program involving leaders from each club in the county.

Major Program: Natural Resources 4-H Core Curriculum
For the first time the Morgan County 4-H program has are presentative in the 4-H Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences Academy (NRESci). This three-year program is designed to teach middle and high school aged youth about their natural environment. The overall goal of the program is for youth to develop a greater understanding of natural resources and environmental sciences in Kentucky while increasing leadership skills.
