From findings through Community Surveys, Focus Groups, Personal Interviews, and Second Data, Bath County top 3 priority issues are 1) More Youth Life Skills Training, 2) Better Family Skills in Reducing debt, Increasing Savings, and Financial Planning, and 3)More Support For Relatives Raising Children of Family Members.
Based on Data Profile, from CEDIK, in 2016, Bath County’s poverty rate was 24.9% compared to the state average of 18.2%. Median Household Income in 2016 was $36,468 compared to the state’s average of $46,610. 12.7% of 2016 HS graduates in the county earned an industry certificate compared to 19.2% for the state. In 2016, 1,194 youth under the age 18 lived in household that received SSI, Cash Public Assistance, or Food Stamps/SNAP.

The Covid 19 Pandemic has halted, slowed, or altered so many aspects of life, for everyone. In 2020, the Bath County 4-H overall program has been impacted like no other year. Club Work has gone to face to face to now virtually format. 2 Clubs have been halted due to the fact that they can't be performed unless in person and/or weather dictated. For the 2020-2021 program year, most citizens of Bath County were still sheltering in place. Seven percent of citizens living in Bath County are under the age of five. The statistics for kindergarten readiness is currently 30 percent. Because so few students are prepared for Kindergarten, the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent and the Preschool Advisory Council collaborated on offering virtual programming for students in Bath and Menifee counties. Youth being court ordered to complete community service and other requirements based on poor choices, isn't new to Kentucky.
