Community Engagement
Extension volunteers and groups help expand the county program by reaching underserved groups and individuals. Seeking new ways to involve extension leaders and volunteers in the county program and community could help build on efforts advocating for extension programs.
A stronger extension leadership base will lead to greater advocacy for the county extension program in the community.
These changes will result in one or more of the following:
- Extension Leaders become more engaged with other groups in the community.
- Extension volunteers will enhance skills related to leadership and working in in groups.
Program participants will identify, plan, and evaluate educational programs. Volunteers will advocate for and promote extension programs in the community.
Experienced extension volunteer leaders will enhance their knowledge and skills working in groups to strengthen the county program. New volunteers will gain knowledge about the value of extension in the community.

Volunteers are well needed every month with Rowan County Extension, like many FCS programs in the state of Kentucky agents rely on volunteers to aid in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs. Each month Rowan County Homemakers are being found helping to educate and maintain programs with the agent. The Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent will continue to generate, educate, maintain, and sustain the leaders. Emphases are on the Rowan County Extension Homemaker program to h
