Each decision individuals make has an impact on health, safety and personal development within the family, community and environment. Understanding how our daily choices can impact our environment is vital to conserving and preserving our natural resources and ensuring a healthy environment for present and future generations. It is also important to acknowledge the impact of current economic conditions on family financial management while also helping individuals understand and respond to changing economic conditions, while promoting healthy financial behaviors across the lifespan. According to 2016 Census data, 28.6% of Leslie Countians live below the poverty level with the average household income of $25,282 which is well below state and national averages. Since families have such limited resources, it is imperative that they learn to effectively manage them to ensure a brighter future.
-Create safe homes within environments that promote and support the physical and mental well-being of families throughout the life cycle.
-Improve the built and natural environment to increase active and healthy lifestyles.
-Number of clientele reporting improved financial stability and economic well-being.
-Individuals and families increase their income.
-An increase in high school graduation rates and bachelor’s degree attainment rates.
-Improve the quality of life for residents in Leslie County by developing the skills to plan, budget, and monitor their financial status.
-Demonstrate skills to improve: disaster preparedness, solid waste management, and home safety.
-Practice one or more resource management behaviors resulting in increased savings.
-Increasing school attendance rates.
-Change knowledge, opinions, skills, and/or aspirations in understanding of issues related to: disaster preparedness, solid waste management and home safety.
-Clients and Youth will understand that a quality education and strong work ethic play’s a significant role in the family’s income.
-Change knowledge, opinions, skills, and attitudes to improve employability through practical living skills and continued education practices.
-Increase financial literacy related to savings and investments.
-Youth and adults will show increased knowledge and skills related to managing available financial and non-financial resources.
Initial Outcome: Participants will become responsible consumers by gaining the skills needed to make wise financial and career decisions as well as become knowledgeable about green living practices.
Indicator: Individual(s) acquire knowledge, skills, opinions, and aspirations.

Intermediate Outcome: Participants will make wise financial and career decisions and will increase practices related to green living.

4-H It’$ Your Reality Program 2018 Partnering with Leslie County Schools enabled 137 Tenth Graders and 112 Eighth Graders to participate in our annual It’$ Your Reality Program. This 4-H program is an active, hands-on, real-life simulation which gives young people the opportunity to explore life choices. The Kentucky State Fair 2018Leslie County 4-H Programming continually supports all 7 areas of 4-H. Day Camp projects continuing throughout early August brings the upcoming excitement of The Kentucky State Fair.With approximately 6000 project entries, the 2018 Kentucky State Fair was a huge success. This effort would not have been possible without youth participants, Extension staff and volunteers. This year Cloverville and 4-H shined better and brighter than ever!&
