Situation:

4-H Camp offers more hours than any other delivery method in 4-H. 4-H Camp provides opportunities for youth & teens to learn independence, gain life skills that will carry them into successful adulthood, become positive & productive members of our society & learn how to acquire skills in a natural setting. Camp helps build self-confidence and self-esteem. 4-H Camp is a place to build social skills and make friends.

Long-Term Outcomes:

Campers will become a trained counselor at camp in their future.

Intermediate Outcomes:

Campers will learn responsibility by keeping up with their belongings and money at camp.

Initial Outcomes:

Campers will learn to do something new at camp. Campers will make at least one new friend at camp.

Evaluation:

Long-Term Outcome: Campers will be camp counselors

Indicator: measured through the application process

4-H Middle School Retreat

Major Program: 4-H Youth Development Programming

The need to recruit and retain middle school youth in the 4-H program has been expressed on the county, district, and state level.  The District 3 4-H agents planned a 2 day District 4-H Middle School Retreat for youth in grades 6-8 to be held at North Central 4-H Camp in December. Two districts in the state participated. A total of 51 youth attended, 6 agents, 1 program assistant, 7 adult volunteers, and 3 teen volunteers. Campbell County 4-H publicized the retreat and focused on yout

4-H Camping

4-H Camping continues to be a popular summer experience for Campbell County youth.  In 2018 Campbell County 4-H set a new state record by having 420 campers and counselors attend our week of camp at North Central 4-H Camp, July 23-27.  4-H Camping provides youth the opportunity to develop life skills such as responsibility and independence by being away from home and keeping up with their own money and belongings during the week.  They also gain skills by picking up after themselv
