I began my position in the UK Extension Program as a Senior Extension Associate for Clothing, Textiles, and Household Equipment in August 2019. My role is to update and expand the programming available to Family and Consumer Sciences Extension for all things related to Clothing and Textiles, as well as develop a niche focused on “Household Equipment” information and education. I am also the new State Coordinator for the Master Clothing Volunteer Program and the liaison for the Homemakers Cultural Arts and Heritage Program.
I received both my undergraduate (B.S. in 2000) and graduate (M.S. in 2017) degrees in the area of Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles at the University of Kentucky. My research interests were apparel quality and product development. I gained experience evaluating the performance, durability, and aesthetics of many textile products while working at the UK Textile Testing Lab. I have also worked in retail and administrative settings.
I am originally from the Northeast but have been primarily living in Kentucky since 1995. My husband is a native Lexingtonian and we have been married for 19 years. Our three daughters (ages 16, 15, and 10) keep us busy and give us great pride. They also playfully tease me when they catch me decluttering, organizing, and using my label maker around the house!
I am happy to be a part of the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension team and I think everyone benefits from collaboration. My goal is to help improve the lives of Kentuckians, while fostering enthusiasm and interest in the areas of Clothing, Textiles, and Household Equipment.
