On September 27, 2022, Dr. Jerusha Lay and I provided one-on-one training in the use of a microscope to run fecal egg count testing to the Marion county agricultural agent. In June 2023, I was contacted by the general manager of Petco in Frankfort, KY. He had received goldfish and had 90% mortality in both his first and second batches. I took a water sample and a sample of moribund fish back to the KSU FDDL. The fish were suffering from ammonia toxicity and low DO. I recommended keeping their holding tank at a salinity of 2.5 ppt to reduce stress and provide electrolytes for the fish. I also recommended adding oxygen to the bag before sending instead of just air. T
